Lucas (Luke) Krueger
As I prepared for the 81st General Convention, I read with great interest the committee work on the revising of Title IV. As a body, the process of investigation and ensuring a fundamentally fair process for all parties is vital to the safety and credibility of our church. In my professional life, I have led Title IX investigations at the collegiate and high school level. This experience includes serving as the Director of Student Life at Green Mountain College, where I was trained and mentored by Jeffrey Nolan, a national expert on Title IX. Additionally, in this role, I chaired the Threat Assessment Team for the college which included the heads of the counseling center, campus security, and the provost; we collaborated with advocacy groups...in short, we were intentional in receiving input from all relevant parties in our investigations. At present, I work as a Hazing, Harassment, and Bullying/Restorative Justice Coordinator for a school supervisory union in Vermont. In these roles, I strove, and continue to strive, to be thorough in the process and ensure that we respond in a trauma informed manner that is timely and in accord with the statutes we operate under. As a member of the Disciplinary Board for Bishops, I will bring the same thoroughness, balancing of privacy and transparency, and trauma informed approach that can ensure a fundamentally fair process that is restorative to all parties involved.
