Michael Barlowe
I have had the honor of serving as the Secretary of the House of Deputies and of General Convention for the past decade. With my retirement as Executive Officer scheduled for around Labor Day this year, I had announced that I would not stand for election this June. However, because of unavoidable delay in the search for my successor, the presiding officers asked me to be a candidate for Secretary this year, to serve at General Convention and to ensure the historic continuity between the roles of Executive Officer and Secretary of the General Convention.
I agreed to their request, and if elected, I will serve through the 81st General Convention and during the necessary post-convention work. I would retire as planned, later this summer, both as Executive Officer and Secretary.
If elected, I will faithfully serve the church to the best of my ability, working collegially with my staff in the General Convention Office, the other officers, and the many volunteers that assist the House of Deputies and the General Convention. I have been blessed by this ministry, and would be honored to continue for this period of transition.
