A114 Authorize for use Expansive Language Versions of Eucharistic Prayer C
Resolved, ;That the 81st General Convention authorize for trial use throughout this church under Article X.b, subject to consent of the Bishop or the Ecclesiastical Authority, expansive-language versions of Eucharistic Prayer C (dialogic and fixed response), as found in the Standing Commission on Liturgy and Music Blue Book Report pages 11-17, with the following revisions
SCLM Blue Book Report page 11: After the line “the vast expanse of interstellar space, galaxies, suns,” add the phrase “the planets in their courses”
SCLM Blue Book Report page 12: Delete the line “On the night he was betrayed Jesus took bread, said the blessing,” and insert in its place “Blessed are you, Lord our God, for sending us Jesus, the Christ, who on the night he was handed over to suffering and death, took bread, said the blessing,”
And be it further
Resolved, That the period of authorized use of these texts shall extend to the 82nd General Convention; and be it further
Resolved, That these texts be provided to the church at no cost via electronic distribution; and be it further
Resolved, That the Standing Commission on Liturgy and Music be directed to engage a dynamic equivalence translation of these texts into the Spanish, French, and Kreyol languages; and be it further
Resolved, That the Standing Commission on Liturgy and Music be directed to develop a process for evaluation of the ongoing use of these texts among the dioceses and congregations of this church, and report to the 82nd General Convention; and be it further
Resolved, That the General Convention request the Executive Council Budget Committee to allocate $9000 for translation.
